MUSICOPIA ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING

BERWYN, ILLINOIS — Musicopia, Chicagoland’s only music lifestyle outlet, which opened to the public on March 1, is announcing their Grand Opening on Saturday, April 23, 2005. The new store, located at 6907 W. Roosevelt Road in Berwyn, Illinois, is just minutes from downtown Chicago and a few blocks south of the Eisenhower Expressway. Festivities, including complimentary refreshments and snacks, will run from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Live music will be provided by the store owners themselves, Wes Cichosz and Stephan Kohnke, and many more of Chicago’s best musicians.

“We had a soft opening March 1, and have been steadily building our customer and student base ever since. Now, we’re ready to let everyone know we’re here to stay,” says store-owner Stephan Kohnke. Co-owner Wes Cichosz adds “We really love music and it’s great to have a venue to share that, especially in the area that we grew up in.” Val Camiletti, owner and proprietor of Oak Park’s legendary Val’s Halla record shop, states, “It’s unlike anything we have (in this area). Welcome Wes & Stephan to the music world in our community.”

Musicopia’s radical new approach to the traditional retail music store breathes new life into a stagnant, corporate stereotype. “We look at the national music store chains and operate 180 degrees from that. We offer a warm and inviting atmosphere that engages the community. We make a concerted effort to expand on musical creativity with artwork, clothing, live performances, and free educational clinics,” says Stephan. “We’re looking forward to meeting the area’s musicians, prospective students, and customers at our Grand Opening party. Once they see how we run our music store, we’re sure they’ll be customers of ours for years to come,” adds Wes.

COMPANY HISTORY

Musicopia, Inc. opened in 2005 and is owned and operated by Stephan A. Kohnke and Wes Cichosz. It is a multi-dimensional, music lifestyle outlet designed to appeal to anyone with an interest in music. Available at their store, located at 6907 W. Roosevelt Road in Berwyn, Illinois, are music lessons, vintage instruments, accessories, music-themed artwork, vintage clothing, consignment pieces, live performances by Chicagoland’s best musicians, and free educational clinics.
